A neighbourhood-by-neighbourhood guide to waking up right in the Okanagan — from lakeside patios to downtown institutions and everything in between.
Kelowna takes breakfast seriously. This is, after all, Canada's first UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy — a designation rooted in the valley's exceptional local produce, its culture of farm-to-table cooking, and a restaurant scene that punches well above its size. Whether you're in the mood for a classic eggs benny beside the lake, an inventive brunch poutine downtown, or a quick, perfect egg sandwich from a neighbourhood café, the options here are genuinely excellent.
We've organized this guide by area, so you can find what's closest to wherever your morning starts. All of these spots are within a comfortable drive of Haskap Farms Vacation Rental in Southeast Kelowna — most are under 15 minutes away.
Lakeshore Drive & the Mission
A Mission neighbourhood institution since 1999. Marmalade Cat is the kind of café that becomes a habit — the baked goods are made fresh every morning, the coffee is excellent, and the counter-order format keeps things quick and casual. The cinnamon buns sell out early, so arrive before 10am if you want one. Great for a grab-and-go bite before heading to the lake or Myra Canyon.
Must try: Egg croissant sandwich, cinnamon bun (early!), and the house-made soups paired with a panini at lunch.
A family bakery with roots going back to 1851 in the Netherlands, Bread Co. brings genuine artisan baking to the Pandosy strip. The pastries — croissants, kouign-amann, seasonal tarts — are among the finest in Kelowna, and the café side does a solid eggs benny and avocado toast on house-baked bread. There's a second location on Bernard Avenue downtown if you find yourself on that side of the city.
Must try: Eggs benny on house bread, any of the seasonal pastries, and their espresso drinks.
When the occasion calls for something special, Lakeside Dining at the Eldorado Resort delivers. Named one of OpenTable's Top 50 Hotel Restaurants in Canada, this waterfront spot is renowned for its Sunday brunch buffet — omelette stations, charcuterie, West Coast seafood, and decadent desserts, all with lake views from one of Kelowna's most beautiful patios. Worth every dollar for a celebratory morning.
Must try: Sunday brunch buffet for the full experience, or the eggs florentine and smoked salmon on weekday mornings.
A downtown institution since 1991. The Boh makes its own bread, cures its own back bacon, and grinds its own sausage — that commitment to scratch cooking shows up in every plate. Founded by a brother-and-sister team and still running on the same principles three-plus decades later, it's been voted Kelowna's second-best breakfast spot by locals, and for good reason. The patio on Bernard Ave is one of the best spots in the city on a sunny morning.
Must try: Huevos Rancheros, Blueberry Oatmeal Buttermilk Pancakes, and the Corned Beef Hash. Don't miss the $10 Morning Glory Special (8–9am daily).
Featured on Food Network Canada's Big Food Bucket List, Sunny's is one of the most celebrated breakfast spots in the Okanagan. A block from the beach, it serves all-day breakfast with playful, creative dishes that people genuinely travel to Kelowna for. The name is a tribute to the owners' golden retriever and a nod to the Okanagan sunshine — which tells you everything about the vibe.
Must try: Chicks on a Raft (yes, it has peanut butter — trust it), Chicken Meets Waffle, and the Breakfast Poutine. Waffles, fruit bowls, and eggs benny are all crowd favourites.
OEB is unapologetically ambitious about breakfast — this is farm-to-table cooking with serious creativity, from free-run eggs and beef-tallow fried potatoes to spectacular eggs benny variations (think Montreal smoked brisket or Korean bulgogi). The breakfast poutines alone are worth a visit. Popular with visitors and locals alike, expect a wait on weekend mornings, but the Yelp waitlist makes it manageable.
Must try: Gold Digga Poutine, any of the creative benny options, and the mimosa tasting flight if you're feeling celebratory.
Sprout is a bakery first — and arguably the best bread in Kelowna comes out of this kitchen. If you want a plate of eggs and sausage, go elsewhere. If you want an extraordinary slice of sourdough with cultured butter and sea salt, exceptional avocado toast, and a perfectly pulled espresso in a bright, minimal space, Sprout is your morning. A quieter, more considered alternative to the weekend brunch rush.
Must try: Sourdough toast with good butter, avocado toast, and whatever seasonal pastry they've made that morning. The coffee is outstanding.
Cora is a Canadian breakfast institution, and the Kelowna location inside Orchard Park Mall is one of the most popular in the city. Their menu is built around spectacular fresh fruit presentations — enormous plates piled high with sliced fruit alongside crepes, waffles, eggs benny, and French toast. Families love it, and the portions are famously generous. Reservations accepted, which is worth doing on weekends.
Must try: Any of the fruit-topped crepes, the classic eggs benny with fresh fruit, and the fresh-squeezed orange juice.
Pür & Simple quietly earns its reputation as one of the most consistently excellent breakfast spots in Kelowna. The star of the menu is their house skillet — built on a proprietary recipe of crispy, fluffy potatoes that they keep closely guarded — topped with a choice of proteins, cheese, and hollandaise. The full cocktail menu (mimosas, Caesars, sangria by the pitcher) makes it ideal for a relaxed weekend morning. The online waitlist on Saturdays and Sundays saves you from standing in line.
Must try: The P&S Skillet, any of the waffles, and the classic Eggs Benny. The mimosa or Caesar is almost mandatory.
The Jammery is Kelowna's most beloved breakfast spot — voted #1 in the city year after year. The draw is their all-you-can-eat waffles served with house-made jam (they make their own, as the name suggests) and Devonshire cream, but the full menu of bowls, avocado toast, and hearty classics is equally solid. Summer wait times at the original Highway 97 location can be long, so arrive early or head to the Jammery City location downtown.
Must try: All-you-can-eat waffles with house jam and whipped cream. Non-negotiable. Also try the strawberry crepes and their fresh fruit bowls.
